Our Staff

Lori May-Kenney, R.N., Owner/Provider has over 27 years experience in nursing. She worked as a nursing assistant for three years in skilled nursing. While attending college, she earned her LVN/LPN and worked for two years administering medications and treatments to 64 residents in a skilled nursing facility. Upon completion of college in 1984, she obtained her RN certificate. She cared for post operative patients for three years in an acute care facility and then returned to Skilled Nursing (Long Term Care). She worked as a Charge Nurse in a Medicare unit for several years before becoming Director of Staff Development. Lori was in charge of teaching, staffing and scheduling approximately 100 staff members and 150 residents. In 1995, Lori obtained certification by the National Association of Directors of Nursing in Long Term Care. Her most recent experience (15 years) has been as Director of Nursing for Skilled Nursing Facilities (in California) overseeing the care of 50 to 60 residents and supervising more than 30 employees.

Lori's husband, Joe Kenney, R.N., assists with daily care of the residents and maintenance of the Home. Joe has been an RN since 1983 and works full time at the Hospice/Skilled Nursing unit at the VA hospital in Spokane. They are parents of four and have a foreign exchange daughter spending the school year with them.

Sondra Wakefield, R.N., is better known as Grandma Sandy to all. She spends time assisting with resident care, resident activities, and has provided many accessories for the Home. In addition to helping with Lori and Joe's children, she is a friend and caregiver to all of the residents and their families.

In addition to Lori and her family, there are three to four other caregivers employed to provide continuous, quality care to our residents. All caregivers have nursing assistant training, food handler's certificates, CPR/First Aid training and Nurse Delegation certificates. In addition, most caregivers have taken specialty training in Developmental Disabilities, Mental Health and/or Dementia care. All caregivers are required to complete at least 10 hours of continuing education each year pertaining to their job.

If the need arises, other specialties are available to help care for residents at the Home. We have access to Hospice services, Home Health, Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as ordered by residents' physicians.

A Better View Adult Family Home contracts with a local pharmacy to provide and deliver residents' medications and medical supplies as ordered by their physicians.
